WEP is an encryption scheme, based on the RC-4 cipher, that is available on all 802.11a, b and g wireless products.

WEP uses a set of bits called a key to scramble information in the data frames as it leaves the access point or client adapter and the scrambled message is then decrypted by the receiver.

Both sides must have the same WEP key, which is usually a total of 64 or 128 bits long.

A semi-random 24 bit number called an Initialization Vector (IV), is part of the key, so a 64 bit WEP key actually contains only 40 bits of "strong" encryption while a 128 bit key has 104.

The IV is placed in encrypted frame's header, and is transmitted in plain text.

Traditionally, cracking WEP keys has been a slow and boring process.

An attacker would have to capture hundreds of thousands or millions of packets a process that could take hours or even days, depending on the volume of traffic passing over the wireless network.

After enough packets were captured, a WEP cracking program such as Aircrack would be used to find the WEP key.

Fast-forward to last summer, when the first of the latest generation of WEP cracking tools appeared.

This current generation uses a combination of statistical techniques focused on unique IVs captured and brute-force dictionary attacks to break 128 bit WEP keys in minutes instead of hours.

Tip: Before password protecting any document you may wish to create a backup of the non-password protected folder and files in case you forget the password in the future.

The majority of Microsoft Windows operating systems do not come with a method of password protecting your sensitive files and/or folders. If you're using Microsoft Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, you will need to download or purchase a third-party program to password protect your files and folders in Windows; skip down to the other security solutions section if you're using one of these operating systems.

Things to remember when encrypting or password protecting files and folders

Microsoft Windows XP professional users

The below steps for encrypting the files on Windows XP professional applies to users who are using a computer that has different accounts. If you're using a single account for all users who use the computer you will need to see the below other security solutions section.
Select the folder you wish to encrypt.
Right-click the folder and click Properties.
Click the Advanced button.
Check "Encrypt contents to secure data" option.
Click Apply and then Ok.

This will be grayed out if you're using the home edition of Microsoft Windows XP. See the below steps for securing the contents of your folders in Windows XP home.

Show "Encrypt" on the context menu

The newest version of TweakUI also enables you to show the Encrypt option in the context menu. To do this, follow the below steps.
Open TweakUI. If you do not have TweakUI you can find additional details about getting and installing TweakUI in document CH000141.
In the TweakUI window, select Explorer
In the right side of the window under Settings, locate "Show 'Encrypt' on context menu" and check the box. This option should be below "Prefix 'shortcut to' on new shortcuts" and above "Show 'View workgroup computers' in NetPlaces".

If you're missing this option, see document CH000711 for additional information.

Microsoft Windows XP home users

Select the folder you wish to encrypt.
Right-click the folder and click Properties.
Click the Sharing tab.
Check the box Make this folder private
Click Apply and then Ok.

In order for this option to work in Microsoft Windows XP home you must meet the below requirements.
The hard disk drive must be formatted in NTFS and not FAT32. Additional information about determining the type of file system your hard disk drive is running can be found on document CH000713.
The folder you're attempting to encrypt must be in your own personal folder. For example, if your name is bob, you must be encrypting a folder that is or that is contained within the below folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\Bob\

You cannot encrypt any folders outside of this folder. If you wish to encrypt outside this folder see the below other security solutions.

Things to remember when encrypting or password protecting files and folders

There is no such thing as a 100% protected file. There are numerous tools, utilities, and instructions for how to break a lot of the encryption and passwords on files. However, the protection methods listed above will protect your files from the majority of users who may encounter them. If you're working with really sensitive data we suggest a commercial product for protecting your files and data.
Even though a file or folder may be password protected it still can be deleted (unless the program supports the ability to protect files from being deleted). Always remember to backup all your files, even those protected by passwords.
If you forget the password, unless you're willing to spend the time attempting to break it or pay someone else to break the password, all your file data will be lost. Unless you've made a backup of the non-password protected data.

Các tùy chọn của chương trình:

Tất cả những định dạng(đuôi) của các file bạn muốn chuơng trình download, hãy nhấn nút Options rồi vào File types để sửa.

Lưu ý : việc cho file MP3, WMA, FLV .v.v... vào để IDM bắt lick download sẽ làm cho các bạn không thể nghe nhạc online nếu file có những định dạng này. Nếu bạn thích nghe Online thì hãy bỏ nó đi.

Nếu bạn muốn tải những Clip/Video dạng FLV, bạn có thể điền thêm đuôi FLV vào ô File types hoặc nhấn nút Download this Video ở góc phía trên của Cliptrên cửa sổ trình duyệt.

Tùy chọn Detect new applications that try to Download files from the internet : Phát hiện ra những chương trình kết nối và tải file từ Internet. Bạn nên dùng tính năng này để lấy direct link file setup từ một chuơng trình nào đó buộc bạn cài Online rất tốt(chẳn hạn như Yahoo Messenger hay BitDefender...).

Thẻ Connections có phần Max Connections cho bạn chọn số kết nối để IDM hỗ trợ tải file. Mặc định chuơng trình là 8, nhưng bạn có thể chọn tối đa thành 16. Đối với một vài trang với giao thức FTP, bạn nên chỉnh nó lại thành 1 để tránh việc tải file bị hỏng giữa chừng(ví dụ download driver trên Hp.com, Sony.com, Dell.com.....).

Tính năng lên lịch Download : Scheduler

IDM có khả năng lên lịch để tải rất tốt. Bạn có một lô file muốn tải, nhưng không có khả năng ngồi chờ tải file này xong ta lại tiếp tục tải file khác, hoặc chờ tải xong ta tắt máy tính.... Hoặc bạn có một lô file cần tải, nhưng bạn muốn đi ngủ? Dễ thôi, hãy cho IDm tự động lên lịch và tải, tải xong nó sẽ tự động tắt máy, và bạn có một giấc ngủ ngon mà chả cần lo gì đến nó nữa.

Muốn dùng tính năng này, bạn nhấn nút Scheduler trên giao diện chính của chuơng trình. Cửa sổ tùy chọn của tính năng này hiện ra:

Tại đây bạn có thể chọn rất nhiều tùy chọn để lên lịch cho IDm tải file như: bắt đầu tải file khi IDm khởi động, hoặc tải file vào ngày, giờ nào (Nhấn chọn vào Start download at) hoặc dừng vào lúc nào (nhấn chọn vào Stop download at). Kèm theo đó, bạn có thể thực thi một file nào đó sau khi tải xong(dùng Open the following file when done) hoặc tắt IDM (Exit IDM when done) hay là tắt máy (Turn off computer when done). Nếu chọn tắt máy, IDm có thêm một tùy chọn cho phép bạn tắt tất cả các Process làm cản trở việc tắt máy để tránh việc máy không tắt được khi gặp chuơng trình nào đó cản trở.

Ở thẻ Files in the queue, bạn có thể xem những file đang trong hàng đợi và cho phép IDm tải cũng lúc bao nhiêu file (Chọn số trong phần Download x files at the same time).
Để lưu các tùy chọn ở phần này, bạn nhấn Apply.
Để bắt đầu cho IDM tải theo hàng đợi, bạn nhấn Start now.

Cách sử dụng:
